Bigger is always better at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show —— not many can pull off such ostentation and evoke such fervent, almost fanatical responses in and from the masses. People the world over, both men and women alike, look forward to the end of the year for two reasons, and two reasons only —— Christmas/New Year’s, and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
But what’s not to love? It’s bold, it’s sexy, it’s downright magical. It’s (very expensive) extravagance at its finest. It’s 120 feet of catwalk space covered entirely in glitter. I rest my case. If there’s something which can get away with such excessive flamboyance, it’s the VSFS.
And the VSFS isn’t complete without its fantastical themes, which are undoubtedly one of the brilliant things I love about it —— this year’s consist of British Invasion, Birds of Paradise, Shipwrecked, Parisian Nights, Snow Angels, and PINK Network, with Candice Swanepoel having the honour to don the year’s ten million-dollar Fantasy Bra.
As always, the affair is a shimmering whirlwind of vibrant colours, resplendent crystals, and stunning showmanship. And of course, those signature, magnificent wings —— still my most favourite part of the show (and Victoria’s Secret), followed closely by the gorgeous women and their stage presence, especially the veteran Angels (note: Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio).
Birds of Paradise:
Breathe. Breath caught? Okay, let’s continue,
(PINK Network not included as I wasn’t particularly drawn to any of it, unfortunately)
