H&M monokini / Topshop kimono / H&M floppy hat / Sandals from Beijing
My penchant for monokinis developed when I started scouting for more one-of-a-kind pieces to incorporate into my collection, and it only grew over time as I continued to opt for deliciously-cut one-pieces over skin-baring bikinis. Whilst I do own my fair share of the latter, there’s nothing quite like a beautifully-cut maillot to spice up your summer accoutrements.
What’s even better is how they pair so effortlessly well with kimonos — this silky, oriental gem of a robe is by far one of my favourites, and has been accompanying me on many of my journeys around the world. It’s no wonder why it’s one of my most cherished given its black and gold palette, which looked sublime against the rich, earthy tones of the concrete walls.
I’m all about combining different textures so I decided to incorporate some gold and marble hardware to balance against the softness of the florals and fluidity of the ruffles, and I do think it turned out pretty well.
